July 4 2001, Wednesday, 4pmSHORT SEASON OF UGANDAN PLAYS FROM THREE WRITERSThe Harrods sale commences at 9am
today... but just down the road from the Knightsbridge store is a Ugandan
theatrical performance. Yes, it is the first of a very short three-day season,
which is part of the London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT) event that
is currently on across the capital. Three Ugandan writers: Luswata, Mulekwa and
Muwawu, have produced works covering football, a schoolboy surrounded by war and
a woman's bus journey home.
We see each of them performed this
evening in a season of new plays called "Fire in my Head." In English, with no
doubt a few names/words in Lugano. Admission £3, £2 for students. Location:
Jerwood Theatre (the upstairs part of the Royal Court Theatre), Sloane Square,
SW3. Nearest tube station: Sloane Square (Circle and District lines).
