October 11 2001, Thursday, 7.45pmTHE KINGS OF LAGOS, FULL OF RHYTHM, PERFORM AT QEHWe always thought that Lagos was the
capital of Nigeria but recently discovered that, for nearly ten years, it has
not been. Aruja is, in fact, the capital. Needless to say this evening you are in
for a wonderful performance that any capital - or even large city, is capable of
producing.
Yes, you probably know that the word "rhythm" is an acronym of "rhythm has your two hips moving" but have yet to discover the 'infectious Yoruba rhythm' the Royal Festival Hall's promotional booklet talks about when outlining today's concert: "The Kings of Lagos", an eight-manned group wearing traditional Nigerian caps that is full of vocal harmony. Tickets range from £12.50 to £17.50 (£2.50 less for students). Box office can be called on 020 7960 4202. Location: Queen Elizabeth Hall at Royal Festival Hall. South Bank (near the Hungerford Railway Bridge), SE1. Nearest tube station: Embankment (Circle, District, Bakerloo and Northern lines).
