Spanish and Portuguese department at Manchester University, will examine Cuban
literature and poetry from the perspective of the female novelist and poet. Her
talk will be entitled, "Cuba 1800-2000: Women, Writing and Society" and should
be interesting as she, according to the promotional literature we were sent,
'has dedicated many years to research relevant literary figures from Latin
America and Spain, and has a specific interest in female literary figures.'
Today's speaker got her degree and PhD from universities in Madrid and Glasgow respectively. After what promises to be an educational evening, drinks will be served.
