April 26 2002, Friday, 10am-6pmPHIL KELLY... "AN IRISHMAN IN MEXICO", EXHIBITS PAINTINGS - OF MEXICO AND IRELAND - ALONG WITH SEE-THE-ARTIST-AT-WORK VIDEOOur favourite painting, when we
visited earlier in the week, was the already-sold, "Iglesia" (Spanish for
"church") - a beautiful 28" x 24" picture of a Mexican church. Beside it was
Kelly's "Blue Liffey, Dublin" which is unlike most of his other paintings, as it
is mixed media on paper. Yes, most of Kelly's paintings - in the three-storey,
Panter & Hall gallery - are oils on paper on board. Two other paintings, using
the same brush style and bright colours as used for the above "Iglesia" are
located on the ground floor, just on your right as you enter the gallery.
On the second floor you will be able
to view a video showing the artist at work in his studio in Mexico City. Go
along and discover more for yourself! The gallery is based near to the bustling
cafes, pubs and restaurants in London's Mayfair. E-mail... (see website) for
more information, if required. Location: Panter & Hall Gallery, 9 Shepherd
Market, London, W1. Tube station: Green Park (Jubilee, Piccadilly and Victoria
lines).
