May 10 2002, Friday, 7.30pmPIECES BY ENGLISH AND GERMAN COMPOSERS PLAYED AT "ROYAL AND CORONATION MUSIC" CONCERT WITH CHOIR AND TWO ENSEMBLES - PLUS INTERVAL TALK - AT WESTMINSTER ABBEYTo celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's
Golden Jubilee, why not come to see and hear the forty-eight choristers that
make up the Westminster Abbey Choir. Alongside the choir will be members of two
ensembles - "St James's Baroque Players" with their period instruments and
"London Brass" with their brass instruments. The conductor will be James
O'Donnell and the organist, Andrew Reid.
Royal and coronation music will be
performed throughout, including the English composer, Edward Elgar's "O hearken
thou" and two pieces by German composer, Georg Handel... "My heart is inditing"
and "Zadik the priest." Works by others - to include English composers John
Blow, Orlando Gibbons, Charles Parry and William Walton will also be heard.
Tickets range from £5 - for Lantern Seats (which have no stage view) - up to the
best, Nave seating, at £45. Location: Westminster Abbey, Parliament Square,
London, SW1. Tube station: Westminster (Jubilee, Circle and District lines).
