SOUTH AMERICAN BOTANY AND QUININE PLUS WEST AFRICAN MAGIC - TOPICS FOR GLOBETROTTERS' TALKS IN COVENT GARDEN BEFORE NEARBY PUB VISIT

More about South America and Africa will be revealed in another session of two 40-minute"Globetrotting" talks. The first talk, "The Fever Trail: Mosquitoes, Malaria and the quest for Quinine" will look at well-known botanists in 19th century South America. It will be delivered by author and former television producer, Mark Honigsbaum. This - according to the press information we received - will be followed by Toby Green (author of "Saddled with Darwin"), who will give a talk entitled, "Secrets and Magic in West Africa."

Will he reveal the secrets of invisibility? You will have to come along to find out. Also, after the talks, some of the attendees will visit a nearby pub. Come to the talks, and you will be able to discuss with travel with other enthusiasts both at the half-hour interval and later, in the pub. Admission £4. Location: Globetrotters Club, Church of Scotland, Crown Court (off Russell Street), London, WC2. Tube station: Covent Garden (Piccadilly line).
