June 1 2002, Saturday, 10am-2pmTAIWANESE ARTIST, HSIAO-MEI LIN - EDUCATED IN BRIGHTON AND AT R.A. - EXHIBITS IN CORK STREET ART GALLERYA chance to see an impressive
selection of impressionist art - with Eastern touches, by Hsiao-Mei Lin. With
titles such as "Last Rain Drops Spatter the Rock 2002" (£8,500), "Mist Blue
Rising 2002" (£6,950) and "Snow Melts from the Passes" (£6,500) we had an idea
her works of art would be impressive. Yes, Hsiao-Mei's selection of 36 oils on
board were a fantastic array of pictures that boasted colourful, flowing blues,
greens and yellows. Whilst our favourite painting, spotted at the preview, was
one of the aforementioned - it is the one with a predominant range of golden
shades and blue drops - there is plenty to see and a variety of oils and
watercolours to choose from.
Prices range from £350 up to £8,500.
The artist enjoys diving - and did do a degree by England's southern coast, and
this probably accounts for the sea feeling and flowing shades of blue that run
through - and sometimes predominate much of the space in her paintings. Then
again, she likes flying, so even more shades of blue might influence her. If you
do go along, and visit, do not leave it too late as the exhibition will be
moving early this afternoon to another venue: Adam Gallery, 35 Ponsonby Terrace,
London, SW1, where it will remain for a further two weeks, until June 15 2002.
Location, until about 2pm: The Gallery, 28 Cork Street, London, W1. Tube
station: Green Park (Jubilee, Piccadilly and Victoria lines).
