July 16 2002, Tuesday, 7.30pm-9.30pmIN HAMPSTEAD... ROGUE STATE THEATRE COMPANY PRESENTS "GoGoL's UnDeRdOg's", BY NIKOLAI GOGOLAccording to the e-mail that was sent
to us here at hteL, 'St. Petersburg, the graveyard of dreams, where men claim to
be Kings and noses masquerade as Government Officials, where phantoms with a
fetish for Overcoats terrorise the upper crust. In a reworking of Nikolai
Gogol's St. Petersburg Stories Madman, Nose and Coat, Rogue STATE descends into
a Gogolian universe where reality and dream clash so that it's impossible to
distinguish the true from the illusory.
Expressed here in these three fantastical tales is the essential absurdity and tragedy of life, blended together with Rogue STATE'S distinctive fusion of music, madness and mayhem.' The cast includes Adam Burton, David Newman and Pat Taggart. The play is directed by Ryan Mcbryde. Location: The Pentameters Theatre, Hampstead, London NW3. Admission: £9 (concessions: £6). Tube station: Hampstead (Northern line).
