January 10 2003, Friday, 7.30pmPIANIST, EDUARDO MONTEIRO - FROM BRAZIL, PERFORMS CLASSICAL MUSIC PIECES BY BRAZILIAN, GERMAN, RUSSIAN AND SPANISH COMPOSERS AT LONDON'S WIGMORE HALLThe talented Brazilian pianist, Eduardo Montiero, is to perform at the Wigmore Hall and we shall be there, with several subscribers, for his first concert in London. This evening's concert should be interesting! It will feature classical music pieces by several well-known composers, along with a South American composer we know little about. Yes, in addition to hearing musical pieces by the Brazilian composer, Almeida Prado, those attending will also have a chance to hear pieces by German, Russian and Spanish composers: namely, Johannes Brahms (1833-1897); Sergey Prokofiev (1891-1953) and Isaac Albeniz (1860-1909). When he is not playing music, the Rio-born pianist Montiero - in his mid-thirties, lectures at the University of San Paolo.
Therefore, you could say, he should be used to crowded halls and auditoriums! On this occasion, though, expect the public - who have braved London's freezing weather conditions, to come and listen - to clap enthusiastically after each major piece in, what appears to be, a very varied programme. According to the box office, which we called the day before, some tickets at £10, £12, £14 and £16 are still available; so reserve your ticket now. Telephone 020 7935 2141 (from 10am) to reserve, or for more information. Location: Wigmore Hall, 36 Wigmore Street, London, W1. Tube station: Bond Street (Central and Jubilee lines).
