February 9 2003, Sunday, 4pm, 6pm & 8pmTHREE HUNGARIAN FILMS - MADE IN SIXTIES - BY HUNGARY'S WELL-KNOWN FILM DIRECTOR, MIKLÓS JANCSÓHere is a chance to enjoy several films, each directed by Miklós Jancsó in a triple-bill presentation, that makes one wish that the streets of London were - once again, full of snow and that people's sole concern was to find a cosy cinema to keep warm in order to enjoy a feast "Magyar" cinematography. "My Way Home / "Így Jötttem" (1964, 108 mins) is the name of the first film to be screened, at 4pm. It stars Andras Kozak and Sergei Nikonenko. Following this is the slightly shorter, The Round-Up / "Szegénylegények" (1966, 95 mins). The final film is the shortest of the three, but is the most recent. It is called The Red And The White / "Csillagosok Katonak" (1967, 93 mins). The films are in Hungarian, with English subtitles...
...They are being screened to launch a multi-sponsored three-week retrospective of the film director's work that will include 15 films. Yes, the extensive series of cinematographic events is taking place thanks to London's Canadian High Commission, Hungarian Cultural Centre, Italian Cultural Institute and Riverside Studios as well as Budapest's Hungarian Film Unió and Hungarian National Film Archive.
