You are invited to come along to
the first day of one of several exhibitions in the Putney, London SW15 area. Let us look
at five artists exhibiting: Ariadna Capasso, Eva Dumpling, Zoe Gilmore, Anny Han and
Phelim Kelly. The event is all part of the second annual Putney "Open Studios"
event. One of this year's group exhibitions - given the name AEZAP, after the initials of
the first names of the artists participating - takes place over two weekends, the last in
May and the first in June. "International" is one of the keywords that can be
applied to this group, as each comes from a different country: Argentina and Czech
Republic, to name a few... plus - closer to home - Essex. First, let us look at the works
produced by Ariadna, from Argentina. Ariadna's exhibits, in her own words, feature, 'Works
on video, La Conquista, 10 minute video in collaboration with Damian Keller (sound),
Amazon Melodie, 1.min 24 sec. in collaboration with Gonzalo Macias (sound). Born in
Argentina, lives and works in New York City. Master of Fine Arts, University of Colorado,
2000.' Czech, Eva Dumpling, on the other hand, presents, "Projections Of My
Mind" drawings of animals & life.
Essex-born Zoe states, 'I will be displaying
recent interpretations of nudes in oils on canvas. Above all I take pleasure in
experimenting with different styles and techniques, as my own style is constantly
developing. I am inspired by the work of Euan Uglow and Lucien Freud.' Anny is quoted as
saying, 'I am going to exhibit some watercolours of landscapes, flowers and a few Chinese
characters. I hope you will enjoy them.' Lastly, Phelim - an English language teacher in
Putney - presents, "Phrasal Verb Art", on canvases & mirrors. The exhibition
takes place today, May 31 2003, as well as June 1, 4, 7 and 8 (hours: 11am-6pm, except for
Wednesday which is 6pm-8.30pm). If you want to find out more, come along at any of these
times and enjoy the art, in company of most of the artists. Location:... London, SW15. Bus 430 runs between Roehampton and West Brompton, passing near Putney
Bridge tube station (District line) and Putney BR station. Admission free. For more
