Any of you who attended the
previous week's Bond Street festival, will now know what fun these Midsummer Carnival
events really are. Well, Westminster is celebrating another one! This time the
celebrations are set to take place in Elizabeth Street, one of the streets between
Victoria Train/Tube station and Victoria Coach station. The main event seems to kick off
at about 7.15pm, when Sir Jeremy Mackenzie, the Governor of the Royal Hospital Chelsea,
will get the Opening Ceremony underway. Then, the advice seems to be to enjoy everything
on offer.
Looking at the entertainment side of things,
expect to see various acts including "What Next Band" (sponsored by the estate
agents, Friend & Falcke), the Rio de Janeiro Dancers (sponsored by Blackbird
Productions) and The Royal Hospital Chelsea Band. Food and drink wise, there are
refreshments from many parts of the world, which are being sponsored by restaurants. They
include Italian Food (sponsored by Oliveto), Italian Speciality Table (sponsored by Mimmo
D'Ischia) and Paella & Spanish Omelette (sponsored by Goya). Expect a raffle - with
some fine prizes - at 9.30pm. Admission: £2, which is being donated to charity (Royal
Hospital Chelsea). Location: Elizabeth Street, London, SW1. Tube station: Victoria
(Circle, District and Victoria lines).
