October 25 2003, Saturday, 10am-7.30pmLEBANESE GALLERY'S EXHIBITION OF RECENT PAINTINGS OF IRISES, ROSES, ETC., BY FRENCH ARTIST, CHARLES BELLE - LAST DAY TO SEE EXHIBITION, IN FULL BLOOM, HERE IN LONDON'S CORK STREETThe Directors of the Lebanese-based, Alice Mogabgab Gallery - located in the Jemayze district of Beirut, are hosting a London exhibition of recent "flowering" works by Charles Belle, an artist from Besancon in the north of France. Thirty-five oil on canvas works are on show, ranging in price from £3,400 up to £17,000. At the low end of this price scale are two pictures, one of which our guest - who attended the private view last Tuesday, commented as being, 'really beautiful from the small ones.' It was, "Ex nihilo, 2003", an picture measuring 40cm x 40cm. Our favourite was the already-sold, "La permanence de ton rivage, 2003" (89cm x 130cm) priced £9,000.
It is a beautiful picture of a rose, located on
the left wall as you enter the Arndean Gallery, located on London's Cork Street. Suitable
for the bedroom, one person commented! We also enjoyed the mauves, purples and whites we
saw in "Un jour se levait, 2003" (175cm x 175cm). Is it an Iris? Or is it a
Gladiola? Go along, and see what you think. Location: Arndean Gallery, 23 Cork Street,
London, W1. Tube station: Green Park (Jubilee, Piccadilly and Victoria lines).
