November 15 2003, Saturday, 8pm-3amENJOY BEAL'S FREE INTERNATIONAL PARTY WITH LIVE DANCING DISPLAYS - FROM BRAZIL, HUNGARY & SCOTLAND - THEN SEE BAND PLAYING LATIN MUSIC ALL AFTER TRADITIONAL SCOTTISH CEREMONY & IRISH PHOTOGRAPHER'S EXHIBITION OF PHOTOGRAPHS & INVITATIONS FROM PAST PARTIESWe are grateful for hteL subscriber, Gordon Beal's e-mail message - recently sent through the Kensington International Society (KIS) e-mail group. Here is an extract of what he says, 'You and your friends are invited to come to my "international party" at International Students' House (http://www.ish.org.uk). The party will be in the basement and start at 8pm, with Scottish dancing to bagpipes from about 8.30pm and the "Ceremony of the Haggis" around 8.45pm. Hungarian Dancers will perform around 9.15pm, and a Spanish Flamenco group ("Ilusion Flamenca" - http://www.ilusionflamenca.co.uk) will give demonstrations from around 9.30pm. The Beija-Flor Dance Group (see http://www.braziliandance.co.uk) will give a Lambada demonstration about 9.45pm, and members of a Salsa band ("Los Teachers") will perform from around 10pm. The disco, with music from many countries, will begin about 10.30pm. If you have a favourite CD with music from your country, please bring it along for the DJ to play. There will be a cash bar until the party ends at 3am (please do not bring your own drinks), and a cloakroom will be available.
There will be no food, so I suggest you eat
first. You are welcome to bring any friends interested in meeting people from different
countries. To find International Students' House, 229, Great Portland Street, W1, come out
of Great Portland Street tube station (Hammersmith and City, Metropolitan and Circle
Lines, Zone 1), turn left, and you will see ISH ahead of you as you cross the road.
Alternatively, you can use Regents' Park tube (Bakerloo Line). ISH is the only building
between these stations...' From 8pm - until the lights go out and the disco starts, guests
will be able to view Irish photographer, Phelim Kelly's special exhibition (i.e. not to be
shown again, publicly, for quite some time) of photographs and past invitations - all from
Gordon's past parties, which took place at Hammersmith's Emerald Centre. Needless to say,
it might be a good idea for you - on this occasion - to bring a camera and take lots of
photographs and you could be the photographer exhibiting at Gordon's next party! For more
information about KIS - including free membership, please visit the website.
