November 19 2003, Wednesday, 7.15pmDISCOVER WINTERS - AS EXPERIENCED ON ARAN ISLANDS, JUST OFF IRELAND'S WEST COAST - IN O'LEARY'S FILM, "ROD RHYME & SPINNING WHEEL"Besides travelling to Ireland, and visiting the Aran Island's - off her west coast, the next best thing would be to see a film (or fi-lim, as they say over there!) about the area. And one ideal place, that has quickly become the cultural Mecca for everything Irish, is the Irish Centre - located in Hammersmith, west London. In addition to films and John Hinde's exhibition of Irish postcards, that the centre is currently exhibiting, there are also concerts, storytelling and various classes - all related to Irish arts and culture, which seem to take place on a more-or-less daily basis.
And earlier this month, the centre screened Pat Collins' film, "Aran Islands: A journey through changing times." This evening - in a similar vein and in addition to a short film, which will also be screened - one has a chance to see film director, Anne O'Leary's, "Rod Rhyme & Spinning Wheel" (50 mins). Go along and discover more. Admission: £3. Telephone 020 8563 8232 or e-mail... for more information, if required. Location: Irish Centre, Blacks Road, London, W5. Tube stations: Hammersmith (District, Piccadilly, Hammersmith & City lines).
