December 11 2003, Thursday, 7.30pmORCHESTRA PERFORMS "CRACKING CHRISTMAS SHOW" WITH TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS, AND MANY OTHER FAVOURITESEarlier this year, in February, hteL listed the BBC Concert Orchestra's tribute to Peggy Lee. And early last month, we luckily managed to get to catch the Orchestra's wonderful renditions in the second-half of their concert, "The Magic of Stanley Black" on, what was, a hectic day of visiting several of London's cultural hotspots, which included a West End theatre - to see a matinee thriller, and a church hall - for a university-style lecture on dictionaries. Well, Christmas is coming up and what better way to see in the season of goodwill and joy, than with a Christmas concert and show. The "Cracking Christmas Show" is on for one evening only.
The programme, of carols and songs, includes:
Deck the Halls; Jingle Bell Rock; Joy to the World; The Twelve Days of Christmas; White
Christmas and Wonderful Christmastime. If you know the words or lyrics you can quietly hum
them along to yourself as your host and conductor for the evening, Alasdair Malloy and
Matthew Rowe respectfully, move from carol to song. Needless to say, it should be a
cracker! Tickets, from £8 to £20, available from the box office on 020 7960 4242.
Location: Royal Festival Hall, Belvedere Road, London, SE1. Tube station: Embankment
(Bakerloo, Northern, Circle and District lines).
