January 15 2004, Thursday, 7.30pmFRANCK - CONDUCTOR FROM FINLAND, PLUS MØRK - CELLIST FROM NORWAY, ALONGSIDE CHAMBER ORCHESTRA OF EUROPE IN PERFORMANCE OF CLASSICAL MUSIC, COMPOSED BY FINNISH & RUSSIAN COMPOSERSMikko Franck, an orchestral conductor from Finland, conducts the Chamber Orchestra of Europe in a concert at the Royal Festival Hall (RFH). It is just one of a series of concerts in the venue's "Classic International 2003/04" series which, according to the brochure we have, has seen some of, 'The World's Finest Orchestras Live...' (including the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra) in recent months at the RFH.
This evening the works of three composers, two
Finnish and a Russian, are to be featured: They are Rautavaara's "Autumn
Gardens" and Sibelius's "Symphony No. 6" along with Dmitry (short for
Dmitriyevich) Shostakovich's "Cello Concerto No.1." On the cello at this
evening's concert is Truls Mørk, from Norway. All sounds good, and a musical event well
