February 8 2004, Sunday, 10am-5.30pmARUBA, BONAIRE & CAPE VERDE: JUST THREE OF MANY DESTINATIONS YOU CAN DISCOVER AT THIS YEAR'S "DESTINATIONS" EXHIBITIONA week or so later than last year's exhibition - and at a new venue, comes the four-day "Destinations" exhibition. Today is the last day of this year's event - the tenth to date! So, if you have not yet been it is well worth going along to. According to one of the press releases we read, the large exhibition centre in Earl's Court hosts, 'representatives from over 400 travel companies, airlines and tourist boards, plus a new feature, Destinations Sensations, which encourages visitors to gain hands-on experience of different cultures, the show promises to be a truly entertaining and inspiring event.' Let us take a look at just one of the sensation areas, that of, "Sensation Europe." Well, on this European menu, visitors will discover - amongst other things - German Beer Presentations & Sampling, Icelandic Fashion Shows, Russian vodka tasting, Spanish Cider Demonstrations and Turkish Dance Tuition.
We briefly visited several of the exhibitors,
on the exhibition's second day. Places that were relatively new to us were: Aruba, Bonaire
and Cape Verde. One is noted for fine diving facilities and another is made up of 18
islands, with only nine of them inhabited. Go along and discover more for yourself. One of
the highlights had to be the free drink for everyone at the exhibition's new section,
"A Question of Taste." We enjoyed tasting our Scotch whisky with ginger beer,
just one of several combinations that are on offer. Will you choose the same? Admission:
£10. Location: Earl's Court Exhibition Centre, Warwick Road, SW5. Nearest tube station:
Earl's Court (Piccadilly and District lines).
