*HowToEnjoy.co.uk RECOMMENDED*April 23 2004, Friday, 10.30am-8pmANNUAL CELEBRATE ENGLAND'S ST. GEORGE'S DAY WITH FREE ALL-DAY ADMISSION PLUS FULL PROGRAMME OF MUSIC & THEATRICAL FESTIVITIES AT SHAKESPEARE'S GLOBE THEATREThis year, London's Bankside is the place to be on St. George's Day as there is free all-day admission plus a full programme of band music & theatrical festivities at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. No doubt the nearby riverside area will also be full of music and people enjoying themselves. One could literally say, laughter and street performers aplenty! And that being so, you are encouraged to come along and join them whether it is for an hour, or two or all day. But, fire-puffing dragons... amongst you, beware! The only puffing that Puff and his magic friends will be capable off, will be the dampened huffing and puffing experienced on attempting to extract themselves from the River Thames - into which they would be tossed - should they decide to venture anywhere near the day's jovial atmosphere in Shakespeare's Globe and anywhere around London SE1. So, come all to enjoy yourselves, and leave those dragons behind (either at home or at the office!). The festivities start from 10.30am, and go on through to evening time. The Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, will be along at 11am to launch the event.
After the launch, expect to see the likes of:
Budgerigars; Cascada; Charles Edward Brooke Jazz Band; Jose Navarro; Kingsdale School
Samba Band; Marcel Marcus; South Bank Gamelan Players and Sunarno Purwolelono to name just
several of the acts appearing. Note that last admission is 7pm and that the Globe's
exhibition, celebrating everything Shakespeare, will close at 5pm. So, go along and enjoy
the bard at his best!
