SECOND & FINAL WEEKEND TO SEE THIRD PUTNEY OPEN STUDIOS, WITH ARTISTS: BARBER; MALI; PEACHY (x2); RAPLEY; SCOTT PLUS DOZENS OF OTHERS WITH WORKS ON VIEW BETWEEN HUNTINGFIELD ROAD & SCHUBERT ROAD

There are 22 "studios" in this summer's Putney Open Studios, which started last weekend and is on this weekend too. Now in its third year, it is an event that is well looked-forward to by both artists and collectors alike. And the fact that several artists are exhibiting, within the event, for the very first time, just adds to the attraction. This year we visited four of the studios, two of which are just off Putney High Street. They are Studios 12, 13, 15 and 19, according to the map on the specially-printed brochure for the event. Looking at Studio 12: Putney School of Art and Design, it is a good place to start your tour of Putney's arts. Inside this school, with a dedicated staff who organise and run a wide range of art courses, you will see an example of work produced by many of the exhibiting artists. The idea is to discover whose works you like, then go to see more of what you like in their respective artists' studios, thanks to the council's handy brochure with map. After seeing the school's exhibits, we next visited the nearby Studio 13: Putney Open Exhibition (at Putney Library, on Disraeli Rd), which houses 66 pictures, on the ground floor. Plenty of London scenes are on offer here, including some of our favourites: Amanda Bedford's "London 2004" (£100); Carolyn Clarks "Pen Ponds Richmond" (£60) and "South Kensington Tube Station" (£50); Dorothy Hewlett's "Wetlands" (£85); Helga Huntley's "Putney Bridge" (£200) and Margarida Greig's "Putney Pier" (£290).

Then it was across Putney High Street, to see Studio 15: Jocelyn Peachey, Barington Barber, Lauretta Rapley & Isobel Peachey followed by Studio 19: Susie Scott & Mali. We enjoyed the works we saw, which ranged from drawings, paintings and photographs to ceramics and conceptual art. So, a wide variety! We suggest you, too, add variety to your weekend, and get along for this is your last chance to see all the studios open, at the same time.
