July 3 2004, Saturday, 11am-7pmSCENES OF LILIES, LILACS, FISH & CROCODILES PLUS VIOLINIST, STILL LIFES & NUDES ALONGSIDE VIEWS OF BETHLEHEM, JERUSALEM, PARIS, ROME, VENICE, ETC., AWAIT YOU IN "EMOTIONS" EXHIBITION – GROUP SHOW OF BEAUTIFULLY PAINTED WORKS BY THREE UKRAINIAN ARTISTS: SAMOILIK; SAVCHENKO & ZAICHENKO AT GALLERY 27Where in London can you discover a wonderful world of nature, alongside scenes of various Mediterranean cities? Well, the answer - this week – is in Cork Street, followed by Southwark in the coming fortnight. This is because the Peace and Colour Gallery are exhibiting a collection of works by three Ukrainian artists at Gallery 27 (ending today), before moving the collection to Southwark’s Menier Gallery (July 5 2004 – July 17 2004). The three artists, Elena Samoilik, Serhiy Savchenko and Georgiy Zaichenko, have, between them, come up with a stunning group show on two levels of a popular central London gallery. We enjoyed Elena’s depictions of nudes, lilies, fish and crocodiles as well as her two scenes of Venice: "Venice" (80 x 100) and the slightly larger, "Bright Venice" (96 x 99). One of our favourites is Serhiy’s oil on canvas, "Violin" (100 x 100) which shows an image of a violinist playing a violin. We also liked two of his still lifes: "Still Life with Bottle" (80 x 90) and "Green Still Life" (90 x 80).
As for our favourite by artist Georgiy, it has to be the exquisite, oil on canvas, "Lilac" (65 x 65) which shows a masterfully painted bowl of purple and white lilacs. Georgiy is also showing scenes of Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Rome and several of Paris, which we also liked. Go along and enjoy them all for yourself, either at the exhibiting gallery north or the one south of the River Thames.
