September 4 2004, SaturdayAFTER SHOWS IN GERMANY, LOS ANGELES & PARIS… ARTIST & WRITER, TINA TARRANT EXHIBITS HER SCULPTURES ALONGSIDE IMAGINATIVE ARTWORK, DEPICTING SCENES OF TRIBES, TIME, SEASONS, MERMAIDS PLUS GAMES (FOR EXAMPLE, PLAYING CARDS & CHESS), ETC., - MUCH OF WHICH FEATURES IN HER FORTHCOMING BOOKAfter two private views, including one very well-attended event on the afternoon of the Bank Holiday Monday, Tina Tarrant’s one-week exhibition, "Pishogue, Poisons, Pestilence" comes to an end at The Gallery in Cork Street. We feel it achieved what it set out to do! And this was to illustrate the artwork from her forthcoming book, "What’s Your Poison" Vol:1 "The Garden of Hades." The same was achieved in Germany, Los Angeles and Paris – not too long ago, where exhibition visitors there also had chances to see Tarrant’s highly imaginative works. Yes, go along on today’s last day to see Time and the Seasons illustrated, alongside wonderful images of mermaids (in "Homer’s Odyssey", not for sale) and Native Americans (i.e. Apache, Pawnee, Sauk and Sioux tribes in four pictures, not for sale). Time is reflected through some of our favourites, four mixed-media pieces entitled, "A Cut that ends Time;" "A Rip into Time;" "A Slit inside Time" and, "A Split throughout Time." We also like Tarrant’s treatments of the Seasons, especially "Summer" (£10,000 each). Go along and see why!
One of her pictures uses
playing cards in a novel way, while chess enthusiasts will appreciate Tarrant’s
interpretation of Faust. Her figurative, "Garden of Hades’ is surely worth a
article by itself. Also, on show, there are some of Tarrant’s sculptures. Whilst
a lot of the work is not for sale, those pieces that were for sale, range in
price from £1,000 up to £10,000. Definitely worth seeing! If you cannot make it
along to Tarrant’s exhibition, keep an eye of the website and look out for her
book.
