BRAZILIAN ARTIST & WILLESDEN GREEN RESIDENT, RUNALDO FERRE’S DEEPLY MOVING & SPIRITUALLY-INSPIRED "SYNERGY" EXHIBITION OF CANVASES & COLLAGES, FEATURES PAINTINGS THAT INCLUDE ABSTRACTS PLUS, "A KNIGHT’S VISION OF CAMDEN TOWN" & GLASGOW VIEW OF "THE CYCLISTS" AT "ZIZI GALLERY," AN INEXPENSIVE-TO-RENT COMMERCIAL ART GALLERY IN SHEPHERD MARKET

Today is the last day to see the current exhibition and – as his website suggests, "portfolio" - of deeply moving and spiritually-inspired abstracts and collages done by the Brazilian artist, Runaldo Ferré. In the last working week, we have been a few times to the ZiZi Gallery (a relevantly new commercial art gallery, which is available to rent on a weekly basis, inexpensively – when compared to other centrally-located Mayfair galleries) to both meet Ferré and to see his works and exhibition, which come under the unifying name of, "Synergy." The statement on the brochure, promoting the exhibition, reads, ‘The golden thread linking all the pieces on display throughout this exhibition is the idea of synergy. Each completed work is the product of an inventive combination of images, materials, techniques and ideas. A spicy and soulful reality emerges as each piece communicates a distinctive message.’ It continues, ‘Images and their sensations are playfully extracted from the world around us, and recognised as pieces of energy waiting to be transformed into fresh roles. Throughout the process, colours change, textures evolve and shapes unravel as images are buffed, sanded, polished and brushed into character.’ The last time we went along – after seeing George Papadopoulos’ exhibition of architectural glass in Cork Street - we brought some friends along, and stayed until what must have been nearly eleven o’clock, chatting, learning and viewing. As you enter the gallery, one of the pictures that you will see - on your right – is, "The Sound of Red" (2004, 75cm x 110cm, £1,070). Having seen the exhibition, red is no doubt the artist’s favourite colour. The picture itself has been vibrantly produced thanks to the layering qualities of, ‘Earth, charcoal, bitumen, wall paint and oil on canvas.’ Quite a mixture! Then again, an orchestra full of sound is also quite a mixture! And like most musicians, Ferré uses his fingers to do a lot of the painting rather than relying solely on a paintbrush or other implement. On the opposite wall is the most expensive piece and, therefore, possibly the artist’s favourite, the recently painted abstract, "Guide on Earth" (2004, 50cm x 110cm, £3,950), which comprises the same ingredients as the first painting we listed, but with the addition of crayon.

Coffee is another ingredient that has been spread over part of at least one of his pictures upstairs. As for downstairs, here you will find several of the artists collages. We liked, as have others - who have visited the exhibition, the Glasgow view of the paper and oil on wood, "The Cyclists" (2002, 40cm x 45cm, £1,520) as well as the more recent, same size and less expensive, "A Knight’s Vision of Camden Town" (2003, 40cm x 45cm, £980). Having listed four of Ferre’s paintings here, we suggest you go along and have a look at these as well as over a dozen other wonderful works of art. Earth and Scapes are both on view, in nearly an equal measure. "Eye on Earth," "Fall to Earth," "Guide on Earth," and "Light on Earth" can be seen as you enter the gallery whilst "Divescape," "Railscape" and Waterscape" can be seen on the Gallery’s lower floor. Prices for these and other works on show range from five pieces at £980 up to the already mentioned piece at £3,950. Our suggestion for this Sunday – whether you have money in your pocket or not - is that you e-scape this earth, if only for a while (maybe before or after seeing Rolf Harris painting in Trafalgar Square), and go down to Shepherd Market… to the ZiZi Gallery, where this Sao Paolo-born and Willesden-based artist, Runaldo Ferré, will be present, to guide you around another world, which is deeply moving, with its swirls and twirls, and – no doubt - spiritually-inspired by experiences, both currently being lived and those long experienced. We enjoyed it, and we are sure that, after the experience, you will too! Maybe bring a friend with you, and see what synergy can be produced by walking up and down, between the Gallery’s two floors!
