Today is the
first day of this year’s two-day, "Dance Around The World" event, where
internationally inspired dance displays and – in most cases,
accompanying workshops will take place. Last year it coincided with two
days of the "Frieze Art Fair," which we also went to. According to this
year’s promotional leaflet, Saturday sees a series of some twenty groups
taking part with numerous displays, including Flamenco, Hungarian,
Scandinavian, French and Greek: Escuela de Baile (11.15am); Balaton
(11.45am); Scandia (12.15pm); On Bourge (1.30pm) and Philellenes
(3.30pm) respectfully.
According to the leaflet we were recently given, this annual event is
being billed as, a ‘Celebration of Traditional Dance’.
In fact, over
the last two years we have gone along to one of the two days, and
thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The displays are between 15-30
minutes long whilst the workshops last an hour each. So get you dancing
shoes on and pay only £6 for day ticket and/or £5 for evening ticket.
