February 17 2005, Thursday, 7pmFIRST OF FOUR MONTHLY “CADOGAN@7” CONCERTS, FEATURES VIOLA & VIOLIN PLAYING CLASSICAL MUSIC BY FIVE COMPOSERS: WALTON; TCHAIKOVSKY; MOZART; HANDEL & HALVORSEN – WHO ORIGINATE FROM FIVE DIFFERENT COUNTRIES: ENGLAND; RUSSIA; AUSTRIA; GERMANY & NORWAY, RESPECTFULLYJohn Lubbock,
the Artistic Director for the “Cadogan@7” Series of four concerts, which
take place at the same venue between now and May, will conduct all four
concerts. This evening we have a chance to see him conducting Yuri
Bashmet (Viola) and Victor Tretyakov (Violin), who will be taking us
through a veritable miscellany of European-composed classical music. Two
pieces by Mozart – his “Divertimento in D, K 251” and “Sinfonia
Concertante in E flat for Violin and Viola, K364” – will be played
alongside Tchaikovsky’s, “Carnival” and Walton’s, “Music from Henry V.”
And that is not all! Attendees will also get to hear, “Passacaglia,” by
Handel and Halvorsen. Promises to be entertaining and a genuine European
delight!
