April 28 2005, Thursday, 1pm-7pmPOCKET-SCOPIC’S FINAL DAY, AT GALLERY LOCATED JUST SOUTH OF NOTTING HILL, ENCOMPASSES CREATIVE INSTALLATIONS, OILS & JAPANESE-INSPIRED ORIGAMI BY ARTISTS, ELIAS (IN COLLABORATION WITH GRETA) - FROM BRAZIL & WHITTLE PLUS MEMBERS OF “THE ROCKWELL PROJECT:” DAVIES; HOLMWOOD & YOUNG… THREE FORMER STUDENTS OF ROYAL COLLEGE OF ARTToday is the
last day to see the current exhibition at the Sartorial Contemporary Art
gallery. It is called, “Pocket-Scopic,” and features the talents of a
mainly young group of artists. They are Christopher Davies, Simcha Elias
– from Brazil - in collaboration with Greta, Sigrid Holmwood, Joanna
Whittle and Isabel Young. Davies has an interesting installation of
mirrors, which allow the visitor to, ‘see around corners.’ Elias,
together with Greta’s images, has produced a series of Origami
sculptures, from a creative idea she had when she visited Japan.
Holmwood has produced, “The Traveller’s Cabinet,” a fairly large,
walk-in installation, which you just have to experience for yourself,
when you go along. Whittle has produced a series of paintings, of places
that have – for some reason (left to the eye of the beholder) or other,
become, ‘derelict.’ Young has a series of excellent produced works,
which focus on living creatures, like snakes, fish, etc. and the
environments - like aquariums, tanks, etc. - in which they live. A real
eye-opener!
The works of the five
artists are all finely produced, and one’s compass point will surely be
attracted to several of the very original exhibits. Go along and enjoy
everything - by this evening, at the latest, as today is the show’s very last
day. Check out the Sartorial website, for more information. And also The
Rockwell Project website, where you can find out about other works, by three of
the exhibiting artists: Davies, Holmwood and Young, all former students of the
Royal College of Art. Promote YOUR event, for free! | Return to April 2005 ArchivesSubscribe to, "hteL FREE-TO-ATTEND," only £59.80 per annum |
