May 7 2005, Saturday, 10am registration & coffee, for 10.15am-5pmEGYPTIAN STUDY DAY, “ALCHEMY & PHILOSOPHY IN EGYPT ACROSS THE AGES,” WITH DISCUSSIONS, LECTURES & QUESTIONSLearn about
Egypt of the past, the present - and everything in between - in a
one-day study event, when four speakers will each give a one-hour
lecture, interspersed by discussion and question sessions. The morning
session will include Terence DuQuesne’s lecture, “Ladder to the sky:
alchemy in pharaonic Egypt” and Kasia Szpakowska on, “Dreams and the
Fiery Serpent.” All whilst, the afternoon session will include two
speakers, who are actually chairing the day’s proceedings, Professor
Charles Burnett and Dr Okasha El Daly. They will deliver the lectures,
“The Ancient Egyptian Roots of the Hermetic Traditions” and, “Alchemy,
Sufism and hieroglyphs: Dhu Al-Nun the Egyptian” respectively. The
one-day event definitely sounds interesting, especially if you are a
budding Egyptologist.
