May 16 2005, Monday, 12pm-6pm (continues until May 21 2005, Saturday, 12pm-6pm)RAW ARTS FESTIVAL COMPRISING ARTWORKS BY ARTISTS FROM MANY COUNTRIES, INCLUDING FRANCE, SCOTLAND, WALES, USA (INC. CONNECTICUT & NEW YORK) PLUS – CLOSER TO HOME – COUNTY OF HERTFORDSHIRE, CITY OF PLYMOUTH & LONDON’S BOWWe missed last
year’s Raw Arts Festival, but we were glad that we did not miss the
opening of this year’s event - in London’s Islington - on a side road,
just behind the Angel tube station. With five-dozen artists, from a
dozen countries, there are plenty of artworks to see, on the two floors
that the festival is housed on. On the ground floor, as you enter, you
can appreciate artworks by the likes of Jessica C. Torrant (from
Connecticut), Nearly Orange, Rosi Flood (from the Welsh borders), St
Elizabeth Centre’s Arthouse (based in Hertfordshire), Sue Kreitzman (New
Yorker, based in London’s Bow) & Thai Fine Art (based in Edinburgh),
whilst upstairs you can see works by four French artists: Anto; Chenu
Didier; Jano Coudrin & Philippe Aïni, along with a range of others,
including one of our favourites, New York based Akiko Kitami, with her
wonderful portfolio. As for other portfolios, of just some of the
exhibiting artists, check out their websites. But… in addition to this…
do go along - sometime this week - and discover even more for yourself.
