June 20 2005, Monday, 10.30am-6.30pm (continues until July 22 2005, Friday, 10.30am-6.30pm)

FIVE WEEKS TO SEE GALLERY’S SUMMER SHOW OF PAINTINGS, PRINTS & SCULPTURES - NEAR LAMBETH NORTH TUBE STATIONWITH CARR’S SCENES OF TUSCANY & YORKSHIRE, WYLAN’S SCENES OF FRANCE & CALIFORNIA PLUS ARTWORKS BY OVER DOZEN OTHER ARTISTSINCLUDING MALI, FROM INDIA, AND TASHIRO, FROM JAPAN

After we managed to find the Walk Gallery - located in a quiet street, between Morley College and the Imperial War Museum – we generally liked what we saw, both art-wise and gallery-wise! Over fifty works, by fifteen artists, had been brought together and placed on two floors in what is, essentially, a terraced house in southeast London. The artists that make up the gallery’s summer show are: Clive Broad (three artworks, £110 each); David Carr (four artworks, £550-£750); Vladimir Dirsh (two artworks, £700 each); Partha Dey (seven artworks, £40-£55); Dilys Finlay-Stephens (three artworks, £525-£1,050); Alexandra (Ghose) Conil Lacoste (four artworks, £160 each); Philip Greenwood (four artworks, £1,200); Mali (four artworks, £350-£700); Jenny May (one artwork, sold); Nick McCarty (six artworks, £250-£300); Annie Phillips (three artworks, £850 each); Jenny Tarrant (two artworks, £275 each); Kazuko Tashiro (five artworks, £175 each) and Marie Wylan (three artworks, £275 each). A number of works can be seen online, but we suggest going along any weekday - within the coming five weeks, to see the reasonably priced artworks for yourself.

Prices, as you can see, start from only £40, with a variety of artworks to choose from. Whether it is Carr’s, “Colle Di Val D’Elsa, Tuscany” or his “Saltburn, Yorkshire” or Wylan’s, “Vere Valley, SW France” or her, “Marin County, California,” there is something for all art lovers. Whilst we have written about Mali and his artworks before, it was the first time we had came across Japanese artist, Tashiro and her five works, albeit without the artist, herself, being present. Needless to say, her sister and friends, who were present at last week’s private view, filled me in well.
