*HowToEnjoy.co.uk RECOMMENDED*
July 5 2005, Tuesday, from 6pm (walkies)
& from 8.30pm (party)
It is over five
years since we first e-mailed people about an annual walking and
partying event, organised by the The Book Trade Benevolent Society (BTBS).
The four-paged brochure, promoting this year’s event, is headed, “BTBS
Walkies,” which is written in bold red letters, beneath an illustration
of a walking red book. And the idea, quite simply, is to, “paint the
town red”… by a few hours of walking then partying, ‘the night away’…,
and thus raising money for housing, grants, support, etc., for the BTBS
book trade charity. So, if you want to help and, at the same time, have
a piece of the action – walking and partying, on an early summer’s
evening, whilst meeting a lot of people in the book trade, do go along,
join in and have fun! The simple idea is to walk between several
“Checkpoints,” then finish at a big party. Each Checkpoint, in turn, is
competing for the “Best Checkpoint Award,” so each will be a mini-party
in itself, and have a range of enticements, including food, drinks and
entertainment.
To receive more
information on all of these entertaining Checkpoints, as well as your “Walkies”
route card, sponsor forms, entry to the party and free first drink please
pre-register by sending £12 (payable to "BTBS") to David Hicks, at the address
below. We may see you, at one of their interestingly described, ‘eclectic mix of
central London Checkpoints,’ on the day!
