September 5 2005, Monday, 11am-6pm (continues until September 17 2005, Friday, 11am-6pm)LAST FORTNIGHT TO SEE GROUP SHOW OF NINE ARTISTS - INCLUDING FUENGIROLA-BASED De HARO, HENEBURY (FROM LIVERPOOL) & CRAKOV-BORN MROCZKOWSKI – ON KING STREETThe afternoon
of the last Saturday of August saw a number of people attending a,
“Summer Exhibition,” at Clarion Contemporary Art – a gallery that we had
never previously visited! Situated on King Street, close to Goldhawk
Road, it an easy part of London to get to… no matter if you are coming
from the west or from the east! This is a good point, because two out of
the three exhibiting artists – who we met, that afternoon - had
travelled from distant European locations. These were Joao de Haro and
Marcin Mroczkowski, who had travelled from Fuengirola (Spain) and Crakov
(Poland) respectfully. The exhibition itself contains the works of, in
fact, some nine talented artists. As for Sao Paulo-born Joao de Haro –
now living in Fuengirola, he attracted our attention with his pieces
entitled, “Calahonda” and, “La Cala.” This is principally because these
are some of the places we remembered visiting, when we last holidayed on
Spain’s southern coast. As for Marcin Mroczkoski, we liked his oil on
canvas, “City,” (28cm x 34cm, £250) which depicts Warsaw.
We also liked Diane
Henebury’s oil on canvas, “The Island, An Eye View” (61cm x 61cm, £300).
Originally from Liverpool, we learnt that Diane will soon be taking part in a
two–man show - at the same location, in the very near future. So, get your name
added to the gallery’s mailing list, and you will be kept informed. The
highlight, though, of all the works on display must be Haydon Williams’ large
mixed media on paper, “London Eye, blue light,” (83cm x 63cm) as well as his
other exquisitely drawn pieces that are currently on show. Well worth a visit!
