October 8 2005, Saturday, from 11am onwardsAFTER EXHIBITIONS IN FRANCE, BARCELONA & OTHER LONDON ART GALLERIES (BROTHERTON, IN EIGHTIES & THACKERAY, IN EIGHTIES & NINETIES), HERTFORDSHIRE-BORN CAROLINE ROMER’S THIRD EXHIBITION AT LENNOX GALLERY INCLUDES FIGURATIVE & LANDSCAPE PAINTINGS OF BUENOS AIRES, CATALONIA, GUATEMALA & MOROCCOToday is the
last day, of a two-week exhibition at the Lennox Gallery, to see works
by Herefordshire-born and Catalonia-based artist, Caroline Romer, who
was born in 1955. We liked her two paintings, located at the bottom of
the stairs, which you use to enter the main part of the gallery, which
is below ground level. They are, “Fields above Zunil. Guatemala,” (£950,
20” x 24”) and, “Sunday Procession. Iruya. Argentina,” (£1,350, 32” x
25”). When you are downstairs look out for another of our favourites. It
is her, “Valley of Unarre. Catalonia (Pyrenees)” (£1,200, 20” x 24”). As
the title suggests it shows a valley, with a lot of depth, revealing
plenty of greenery, trees, etc. Prices for Romer’s other works range
from £375 (2) for, “Balcony in winter. Catalonia (Pyrenees)” (9” x 5”)
and, “Study for Un Lugar en el Mundo” (8” x 5”), up to £5,000, for, “The
Friday Market. St Francisco del Alta. Guatemala” (45” x 64”). The latter
is the artist’s largest painting, which is currently on show. It reveals
a market scene, crowded with people and farm animals, especially pigs.
And what of the artist’s own marketing?
Well, over the past 25
years, Romer has been busy painting and exhibiting at a number of art galleries,
not only in London but also in Céret (France), Barcelona and in other parts of
Catalonia. No doubt Romer will soon be making a return visit to London, for what
will be her ninth show in the capital city. We look forward to seeing it, and
learning something more about her Catalonia and other places, further afield! In
the meantime, we recommend you pay a visit to Fulham’s Moore Park Road, before
the exhibition ends. Promote YOUR event, for free! | Return to October 2005 ArchivesSubscribe to, "hteL FREE-TO-ATTEND," only £59.80 per annum |
