for a press release, recently sent to us by WORLDwrite. Here is what the
release says – just after we edited it, ‘WORLDwrite, the youth education
charity which promotes global equality, has arranged a unique celebrity
memento auction on Saturday 3 December. Channel 4’s Popworld presenter,
Simon Amstell, with his biting wit, will be auctioneer for the big
night. The auction is taking place at the trendy Heads and Tails, 64-66
West Smithfield, London, EC1, from 7pm onwards. An amazing array of
items will go under the hammer. They include 24-carrat gold CDs and
DVDs, signed by film stars and pop legends (including Elvis, the
Jacksons, the Rat Pack and Blues Brothers) and over 100 personally
signed treats: a Cup Final script from Gary Lineker; a Robbie Williams
gold disc; CDs from Top Ten music artists; signed books from Michael
Palin; Alan Titchmarsh and more.
There will be sporting
goodies, from cricket to football, thespian memorabilia (from Ian McKellen and
Judi Dench), TV memorabilia, including a signed Holby City hospital smock,
donations from the stars and gifts from Easstenders. The party afterwards will
