March 11 2006, Saturday, 2pm-6pm (continues until March 16 2006, Thursday, 2pm-6pm)RED GATE GALLERY PRESENTS INTENSELY VIBRANT – BOTH AURALLY & VISUALLY - GROUP SHOW, “POWERLUX,” BY FINE ART UNDERGRADUATES, FROM GOLDSMITHS COLLEGE
Once again we are grateful to the Brixton-based, “Red Gate Gallery,” for
information received (as well as ad inserted, on HowToEnjoy.info) about
one of their art exhibitions. Here is an extract of, the gallery’s
statement / ad at HowToEnjoy.info, about the artworks produced by
Goldsmiths undergraduates, over three years of their Fine Art degree, ‘…POWDERLUX
hopes to both showcase the freshest and most dynamic art being made at
Goldsmiths, whilst instigating a stimulative experience on the opening
night through both the aural and visual. The gallery space will be
transformed into an engaging textural environment. Whilst this visual
element will include pieces concerned with pop/rock culture and its
manipulation of reality through artificial surfaces and over processed
imagery, electronic music will simultaneously provide a soundtrack to
the show, conversing with the visual to produce an immersive experience.
A concern with illusory surfaces and bright plastic colours is shared by
the artists taking part. This is echoed by the gallery’s location
underneath a railway arch in Brixton; the space which was once a dark
rumbling void will be filled with intense colour and electronic
vibrations.’
An effervescent event - if ever there was one – thanks, in part, to the
celebratory four-hour private view, on the Friday before. Go along and
